Dr. Baylac’s breathwork helps to bring back past traumatic memories to the present and gives an opportunity to release them. It focuses on awareness of the body, mind and soul. It focuses on experiencing the present moment. It gives an opportunity to free the mind from obsessive patterns and teach how to detach from compulsive thinking.
Dr. Baylac has been using breathwork since the early 1970’s, first in her practice as a psychotherapist and later on, in her holistic approach of physical and mental illness. Reichian Breathwork is a major tool in Addiction Recovery and in the Lifestyle Change programs to develop purpose, meaning, creativity, awareness and self-knowledge.

Reichian breathwork was first developed in the early 20th century by pioneering doctor, Wilhelm Reich, M.D. Wilhelm Reich was a disciple of Freud who broke away from Freud’s theories when he developed his concepts of physical armor and energy blocks. Reich inspired Alexander Lowen who created his bioenergetics therapy and became very popular since the 1970’s, overtaking the Freudian approach.
Reich’s theory is based on the belief that emotional repression blocks human vitality not only on the mental / emotional level but also on the physical level and that cells hold memory of traumatic events. His particular breathing technique changes the ratio of CO2 to O2 and opens the gates of the unconscious. Individuals become aware of their blocks, and therefore are given the opportunity to release them and free the vital force.
Reich believed that sexual and emotional repression blocks human vitality not only on the mental level but also on the physical level. The armor and energy blocks can be dissolved through therapy to free the energy flow.
Dr. Baylac has been using Reichian Breathwork since the 1970′s as a way to heal past trauma and pain. It was a new trend in the youth culture of that time. As a psychotherapist, Dr. Baylac preferred this dynamic and thorough method to the long-term intellectual approach of psychoanalysis. She retained this method in the holistic approach to healing physical and mental illness. She has used this work now for 30 years and finds it very beneficial in the process of self-discovery and connecting with a higher self.

What Others Say
I learned about Breathwork, it was great, and have been slowly decreasing my meds. In two weeks, my Ativan dosage is lowered from 2 mg to NONE and I’m slowly lowering my SSRI dosage. I think my EFT sessions with Lilia were most beneficial, a lot came out in those. Although I only had a few sessions of The Work, I find that I am able to use those tools, of understanding my thoughts, often.
I received more affective psychotherapy treatment from Lilia in five sessions than going to my therapist back home for weekly sessions over a year and a half. My first Reichian Breathwork session with Dr. Baylac healed my deep grief about losing my father two years ago. I have felt peace about him ever since. I received great insight and perspective on anything that had been upsetting me over the past 15 years.
Breathwork and EFT were most beneficial for me. I had been to counselors before and had not made much progress. My issues were on the surface at the retreat and both techniques really pulled stuff out. They were like an emotional castor oil pack – drawing the impurities out of my soul.
Part of my therapy for the month that I was there was breathwork. I had emotions that Dr. Baylac helped me discover and then let go of. Without going into too much detail I had a less than favorable childhood with an abusive father. The gently supportive breathwork helped me open up my blocked emotions that I held in my throat and my stomach.
