Our beloved Kapoho Sanctuary has been lost in the current Kilauea volcanic eruption. Residential programs are offered at Aloha Wellness Inn (Hilo) and Luana Inn (Kealakekua Bay). All programs and services continue and are not affected.
Kapoho Sanctuary is located at the easternmost tip of Hawaii within a private gated community.
The community contains access to the bubbling champagne pond, ideal for swimming with turtles and just a few minutes walk takes you to the tidal pools, for some of the best snorkeling of all the Hawaiian Islands.
Four miles away are the warm natural geothermal pools ideal for a peaceful swim or a natural mineral bath. The warm pond is our favorite destinations for Watsu sessions and hydrotherapy.
The only sounds we hear from the sanctuary are the sounds of the waves breaking on the shore, the song of the birds and sometimes the dramatic call of the bullfrog.
Numerous paths and trails provide access to the spectacular coastline and crashing surf as well as to secluded tidal pools for safe swimming and snorkeling.
We have many surfing spots within 3 miles distance, one being just across the street.
In addition to beautiful and clean waters, our area also features the purest air on the planet and there is no car exhaust pollution, or greenhouse chemicals.
Kapoho Sanctuary is a spacious two story house with a beautiful garden and natural tidal pool (not for swimming). It has been chosen for its unique proximity to world-reknowned tidal pools and natural geothermal pools. These natural treasures are the destination of our watsu and hydrotherapy sessions.
The first floor of Kapoho Sanctuary features a two bedroom apartment, a studio suite and a small outdoor spa.
The two bedroom apartment has a view of the garden and natural geothermal pool. It includes a kitchen with living room, one bath and is surrounded by lanais.
The spacious studio suite has a view of the pool and garden and contains a breakfast area and a special attached bathroom with a double shower. Ideal for couples, or up to three good friends or family members.
The spa area jousting the natural warm spring, features a tub for bath treatments (mineral, hydrogen peroxide, lavender, peat moss, Torf’s Moor mud or clay baths), the enema/colonic room, a sauna, a massage room and an open space for exercise, yoga and active meditations.
The upstairs facility allows constant enjoyment of the soft Hawaiian ocean breeze. Three people can be comfortably accommodated here.
A refreshing breeze is flowing through the house, making relaxation and yoga an especially pleasurable and deep experience.
The upstairs features two bedrooms, 1 ½ bathrooms, raw food kitchen and three sumptuous lanais for your relaxation.
There is a large double occupancy room with an attached half bathroom and a king size bed that can be separated into two single beds.
There is also a single room as well as two lanais. It features two lanais, one covered lanai ideal for yoga, and one open lanai ideal for sunbathing sessions. The upstairs has an ocean view, garden view and pool view.
Fresh juices and healthy raw food meals are served in the upstairs kitchen, and can be enjoyed in several dining areas.
A wild deserted coastal line and ancient mango grove and tree tunnels call on the true adventurer for exploration. Kapoho Sanctuary is just a few miles from the volcanic red hills of fire, and is ideal for viewing the flow of fire on foot or by boat. This obviously will depend on the status of the volcanic flow at the time of your visit. Guided tours are available on request.
