Ep #011: Anxiety No More! (part 1 of 2)
The conventional treatment of anxiety consists of benzodiazepines and Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs). Benzodiazepines stimulate the activity of GABA and SSRIs increase serotonin, two inhibitory neurotransmitters. The first benzodiazepine on the market was Valium but now there are 15 different types of benzodiazepines, the most popular being Xanax and Ativan.
The treatment with benzodiazepines raises several issues. In this episode, we discuss anxiety in conventional psychiatry and the potential short falls and challenges of this approach. In next week’s episode we’ll be discussing the natural treatment approach to anxiety.
Tune in to join the conversation about designing a lifestyle and acquiring a mindset that promote a long, healthy and happy life.
