The charming Aloha Wellness Inn is located on the eastern side of the beautiful Big Island of Hawaii, downtown Hilo. The center is just four blocks from Hilo bay front amidst quaint town shopping. At Aloha Wellness Inn you can capture the ambience of the old Hawaiian lifestyle and become renewed by following a robust detoxification schedule or an individual treatment program. You can book one or more of our treatments, procedures and therapy counseling sessions or take part in our in-house body-movement studio classes, workshops, cooking classes and special events.
The Aloha Wellness Inn’s location is perfect for accessing downtown Hilo, Hilo beaches, Hamakua Coast, Volcanoes National Park, Waipio Valley and Puna sights. The convenient downtown Hilo location is within walking distance of the bay front and makes it very easy to explore downtown Hilo on foot. Enjoy the shops along the Hilo bay front, including a nice health food store, clothes, jewelry, art and souvenirs.
A 26 minute bike ride (5.4 miles, mostly flat) can take you to Richardson Ocean Park, a small secluded beach for swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing. This is a great spot for observing and swimming with sea turtles. Hilo Bay from this vantage point is particularly beautiful as well. In addition na kohola (humpback whales) visit Hawaii every year from November until early May and there is a good chance that whales can be seen in these waters as well. The best for picnicking, wading and sunning is Onekahakaha Beach Park.
Numerous town-hiking opportunities are available. Hike to Rainbow Falls Park in 30 minutes (one way, 1.3 miles) and watch the Wailuku River rushing into a large pool below. On a sunny morning you will observe a rainbow in the falling waters, hence its name, Rainbow Falls. Hilo also has many beautiful parks available to relax, feel the gentle island breeze, soak up some sun and read a book. One of these smaller parks, Kalakaua Park, hosting a cathedral like Banyan tree is just two blocks from the center. A little further (31 minutes one way, 1.7 miles) is the truly spectacular Liliuokalani Gardens. Stroll through Liliuokalani Gardens and take a walk over to Coconut Island. Walk or cycle along Banyan Drive and see the majestic Banyan trees.
Appreciate Hilo Bay while you are getting some exercise and sun by renting a kayak or stand-up paddleboard. Honoli’i Beach Park is the nearest surfing spot six minutes driving just north of downtown Hilo. Ask us about our bicycles or scooter to rent if you’d like to explore further. We also have parking available for rental cars.
The Aloha Wellness Inn is a spacious two-story house, with body movement studio, organic dining room and naturopathic clinic. The first floor hosts the dining room, treatment rooms, two bathrooms, studio and open front lanai. The upstairs features three bedrooms each with private ½ bathroom and enema bench, one shared full bathroom with shower and a hydrotherapy and procedure room. We serve meals downstairs in the dining area or outside on the patio.
